Festival Guide

Tobago Festivalsand Where to Stay

Tobago keeps a full calendar of festivals, from Carnival to the Easter races, and many visitors time their whole trip around one. Dates move each year, so treat this as a planning guide and confirm the programme with the organisers before you book flights.

The festivals worth planning around

Dates are announced each year, so check with the organisers for the current programme.

  • Tobago Carnival: parades, music and masquerade, this year 30 October to 1 November 2026
  • Tobago Jazz Experience: a music festival that draws international and Caribbean artists
  • Tobago Heritage Festival: a celebration of the island's traditions, folk culture and village life, in July and August
  • Blue Food Festival: a celebration of Tobago's blue food, the dasheen, cassava, breadfruit and other root crops that anchor local cooking
  • Easter races: the goat and crab races at Buccoo, a favourite local tradition over Easter

Why book a villa for a festival

Festival weekends are when the island is busiest, and groups who book early have the best choice of villas. A villa gives your group one base with a pool, a kitchen and room to rest between events, and larger groups can stay together in paired villas or in an estate that sleeps up to 36.

Nightly prices follow the dates you pick, so use the booking calendar on any villa page to see the full price before you send a request.

Make festival days easier

Add the extras that save time when the island is busy.

  • A rental car at the airport for getting between events
  • Groceries stocked before you arrive
  • Breakfast delivered to the villa after a late night
  • Birthday or anniversary décor, if the trip is also a celebration
